To teach or not to teach. What was the question?
Speaker:  Winfried Stangl, University of Innsbruck, Austria
Date: October 19th 2026 18:00 CET

Abstract:  Teaching is still commonly believed to naturally result in learning because the teacher exudes knowledge which the learners then absorb like sponges. Decades of didactics research are in clear contradiction with this assumption. Knowledge constructs are unstable and short-lived unless they are integrated into the learners’ minds in a meaningful way. This talk addresses some of the key hurdles for natural science learning and provides strategies to help you avoid them.
